DX COR is a chemical product designed to completely remove hard slag (mill scale) from hot-rolled metal surfaces. This product is a complete alternative to abrasive metal processing (sandblasting, shot peening, or other complex processes).

When working with Corten steel, it is necessary to be familiar with its properties and understand that all sheets up to 2 mm thick are cold-rolled (Corten A) and do not have a hard slag layer on the surface, while sheets from 3 mm thick are hot-rolled (Corten B) and have slag that must be removed to allow Corten steel to oxidize evenly and develop a patina (a rich orange color).
This surface slag is a real headache for all Corten manufacturers. It is bluish-black in color and is usually no thicker than 1 mm. The slag layer forms in the factory during hot rolling and cooling of the metal itself, adhering extremely strongly to the metal and protecting it from corrosion for a certain period of time.
The problem when working with Corten steel is that all end users want these steel products without the protective layer, so that they can oxidize and release the much-desired deep orange color, be smooth, free of residue, and homogeneous.
If this hard layer is not removed, then Corten steel, when exposed to outdoor conditions, oxidizes very slowly. The patina appears unevenly in different areas (breaking through the slag layer), the color is dark, and the entire product looks dirty (because many loose slag patches remain). It takes many months for the entire product to fully oxidize outdoors, and even then, it will not look as visually appealing as it would if properly processed from the beginning.
The most common method of slag removal on the market today is abrasive machining (sandblasting, shot peening, grinding, etc.). These solutions are expensive, the process itself is inconvenient and inefficient, and often damage, bend, or otherwise ruin the product.
